• NCC Cost of Living Advice

Norfolk County Council have produced a downloadable booklet with up to date cost of living advice, recognising that as household expenses continue to rise, many more people are struggling.  You can download their booklet by clicking https://woodbastwick-pc.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/05/Cost-of-Living-Booklet_May_2026.pdf if you need this in large print, please contact the clerk by emailing clerk@woodbastwick-pc.gov.uk.

  • Change of Meeting Date

Due to staff availability, the date of the upcoming meeting has been moved to Wednesday, 10th June at 7.30pm at Ranworth Village Hall.  Thank you all for your co-operation whilst our Clerk recovers from an injury.

  • Change of Meeting

Please note that the Annual Meeting has been moved to 13th May, starting at 7.30pm, following by the Annual Parish Council meeting at 8pm at Woodbastwick Village Hall.

  • Village Book – Your Digital Copy is now Available!

    Click to access Village-Millennium-Book.pdf

We are pleased to be able to offer a free digital copy of the village book via the link above.  The Parish Council wish to thank Sue Hitchcock for her tireless efforts in bringing this book to conclusion and getting it into print with the assistance of David Benham.  This book provides a snapshot of our villages at the turn of the new millennium and has raised £900 in sales.

The Parish Council now wish to start looking at opportunities and ideas to share this sum across our villages and you will soon see posters and an article in The Mardler asking for any suggestions from you all.  Perhaps you’d like to see an environmental project, donations to the churches, new noticeboards or anything else you can dream up?  The only proviso is that this is shared equally and whatever it is can be created, placed or looked after on public land.  For example, Ranworth Staithe is owned and managed by the Broads Authority so we wouldn’t be able to put anything on there.  We are open to working with local churches and charities as well as landowners.

Whatever your idea, use the contact form or email the clerk outlining your suggestion.  You have until the end of March 2026 so please get your thinking caps on for new and creative ways we can use this money for the benefit of our villages.

  • See you in January!

There’s no meeting for our parish council in December, so our next date to meet is Wednesday, 7th January 2026 when we will be hosted by Woodbastwick Village Hall.  If you’d like to raise a topic, concern or have any questions, please get in touch with our clerk.  Don’t forget we have one vacancy on the parish council at an exciting time in local government with devolution on the cards, so if you’d like to get involved please reach out and contact us.

  • Vacancy on the Parish Council

    Vacancy Notice Woodbastwick_2025 (1)

We have the rare opportunity to join your local council!  If you are interested or have any questions please speak to Broadland District Council or the clerk who will be able to help.

  • Speeding through the Villages

We are actively seeking more volunteers to re-start the Community Speedwatch Team.  Speeding is a huge problem, particularly since the A47 works have started and is affecting our villages immensely.

Our thanks go to 2 Panxworth residents who have restarted monitoring the SAM2 sign data; sadly, this enforces the reports of increased traffic and speeding.  The Parish Council continue to work with our partners in Highways and Policing to search for further measures and support.  We will keep you updated through The Mardler and on this website.

  • June Meeting

We apologise, but due to personal circumstances our June meeting has been moved to Wednesday, 11th, instead of our usual first Wednesday of the month.  The meeting will start at 7.30pm and take place at Ranworth Village Hall.

  • Christopher Harry Cator Remembered

It is with great sadness that the parish council announce the passing of our long-standing member, Mr Christopher (Kit) Cator, who died on 19th September 2024 aged 81.

Kit had been a councillor and Chairman of Woodbastwick Parish Council for many years, generously serving the parish through his work in local government, through the church as Treasurer and Churchwarden and as chairman of the village hall committee.  He was selfless in his support of the village of Woodbastwick, from organising and funding maintenance and upkeep of the grounds at the hall and church to organising fundraisers and local events.  He leaves a great legacy for us to build upon and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.  We send our condolences to his family at this difficult time.
